Waterwheel is a scientific irrigation tool in Hakka rural areas. During the long period of development of Gannan, Minxi and Yuedong, Hakka ancestors brought the advanced science and technology of Central Plains to the south. The waterwheel is the first advanced irrigation tool used by Hakka people in Gannan. Every busy farming season, the waterwheel in the river, stream and pond rotates rhythmically and makes a creaking sound. It is like an old ballad, praising the great achievements of Hakka ancestors in hard work and making use of nature. It reflects the Hakka people's creative spirit and intelligence.
